Demographic Information/Market Profiles - The EDC has detailed information regarding the demographic profile of the community, including labor data, employers, income levels, etc. The EDC can provide custom information to those who request it. In addition, the EDC will provide custom research services for specific industry clusters upon request. Small Business/Entrepreneurship Services - The EDC will assist small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs with developing business plans, obtaining counseling and the development of financing options through various sources. In many cases, the EDC cannot provide the services directly; however, the EDC acts as a clearinghouse for information and will assist the small business owners in introductions to appropriate agencies and organizations that can provide help in these specific areas. Real Estate Services - The EDC can provide interested parties with guided tours of the community highlighting general areas of interest, including parcels available for development. The EDC will also provide general interest tours of the community highlighting commerce and industry. The EDC keeps records of available property, buildings and sites along with the names of listing brokers and agents representing these properties. The EDC will introduce interested parties to real estate and professional services companies upon request. Utility Information - The EDC can provide information regarding the availability of utilities and provide introductions to appropriate utility providers and suppliers. The EDC can supply maps and statistics regarding utility lines and development. Finance Information/Coordination - The EDC can facilitate financing with private banking sources, public financial funds such as the McLean County Revolving Loan Fund, CDAP funding through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Illinois Finance Authority, as well as venture funds and programs. For certain projects, the EDC is the local contact for obtaining specialized state and local tax and financial incentives, including the local enterprise zone. Workforce/Job Training Information - The EDC can facilitate the development of job training programs, grants and incentives for companies with workforce needs. Working with local and state public and private agencies, the EDC can help sort through the various programs and incentives that are available. Government Liaison - The EDC, through its close relationships with the local and state governments, can assist existing or new businesses with obtaining government services, developing specialized legislation or promoting grants and other legislation that will benefit their businesses. |
