Marty Vanags, Chief Executive Officer

Marty graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a bachelor's degree in political science. He earned a master's degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Marty entered his role at the EDC in May of 2004 with over 15 years of experience in community and economic development, private commercial development and business management.
Brooke Weishaupt, Director of Communications & Community Relations

Brooke graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a bachelor's degree in public relations. She joined the EDC in July of 2004.
Brooke manages the EDC’s public relations efforts and is responsible for the EDC’s communications functions, including the creation of newsletters, press releases and other materials. She also maintains the EDC’s Web sites, coordinates events and meetings and serves as the community liaison for the EDC.
Ken Springer, Research Manager

Ken is a graduate student at Illinois State University, Normal, working towards a degree in applied community development. He earned a bachelor's degree in international relations at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Ken joined the EDC in August of 2005
and gives site location assistance to prospective developers. He also performs demographic research and processes information requests.
Chad Carson, Client Manager - Local Business Assistance, Retention & Expansion

Chad graduated from the State University of New York, Buffalo, with a bachelor's degree in environmental design. He joined the EDC in January of 2007 and is responsible for the EDC's local business assistance, retention and expansion efforts. Chad manages the formal retention program and the mentoring and entrepreneurship education program, as well as clients seeking business incentives and assistance through the EDC.
Michelle Spicer, Finance Manager

Michelle joined the EDC in July of 2007. Her primary responsibility is managing the EDC’s financial data and records. She also fulfills receptionist duties, greeting visitors and directing information requests. Additionally, Michelle provides staff assistance and completes a variety of special projects and assignments.
