The EDC's annual Community Leaders Breakfast was held Thursday, Nov. 5th from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the new Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Uptown Normal. At the breakfast, the EDC presented our efforts over the past year to COLLABORATE and ENGAGE local and regional leaders to ACT to enhance our business environment. 

Our theme, "COLLABORATE. ENGAGE. ACT.," was showcased by videos highlighting three of our major projects this year: Central Illinois Regional Collaborative Effort (CIRCLE), New Leadership Board and One Voice.

Our keynote speaker, Alma Powell, inspired us through her work as chair of America's Promise Alliance. She challenged our community to seek out ways to help our next generation of leaders - our children. Unit 5's Pepper Ridge Elementary School also received a special designation from Ms. Powell as a Promise School. The Central Illinois Regional Airport and American Airlines/American Eagle celebrated their one-year anniversary of the Dallas/Ft. Worth flight by giving away two round-trip tickets to a lucky attendee. The Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel also celebrated its opening by giving away a free night's stay at any Marriott Hotel.

The EDC looks forward to the upcoming year. We are staying focused on our core mission of helping local businesses to grow and expand, and we plan to work even harder to increase awareness of programs we have to help carry out this mission.
